Changes to Pre Orders from MMP

I don’t track ASL product prices, but is there not a discount for P500/Pre Ordering for ASL? That seems a bit bold to put it mildly. I guess fans love it so much that no price is too high? [ Correction! I found For King & country and they do indeed offer a discount for pre order! Phew! Thought I was going crazy there!]

For the GCACW stuff I see some products i.e. Hood Strikes North has a 25%  preorder discount as does SWJII. But the bundles are no longer, or were perhaps never discounted?

What is more interesting is the ‘Early Bird pricing’. You now get 30% off, then it drops down to 20%. Whereas from what I can tell from my old orders and orders on the OCS product line the regular discount is 25% for pre order.

This might be a smart way to drive the extra orders and get some backlog cleared for MMP. They have a history of product languishing in PXXX hell for a long time.  A while back they started to cull games that were not making the cut [to use a GMT phrase] , the fear of missing out all together still did not drive the orders needed. So a more positive inducement or approach like this might be a great idea.

Or you could be a cynic and say they increased prices 5% unless you order early ! LOL..ahem…

While we are on the topic, how does GMT compare with its pre order price discounts?

830

I’ll provide three quick data points – Mark Hermans guaranteed p750 [ thats the real number we all know that right! ;)] has a 37% discount for pre order. The Expansion to Tank Dual has a 30% discount. China’s War the next COIN game has 32% for a discount.

So the 30% early bird discount is in line if we consider that MMP still insists on printing in the USA, and is generally printing lower runs than GMT on average.  If you want a MMP title, the hint is – Get your order in now or pay 5% more!

  1. I think you are misreading the announcement Kev. I read it as that ASL and GCACW will not have the 30% Early Bird Discount only, but will have the normal “preorder” idscount.

  2. For King and Country (the British ASL kit) is currently available on the MMP website at a discounted pre-order price.
