Third Winter Scorpions in a Bottle

Korsun Pocket mini scenario running 6th of Jan through 19th of Feb.

Germans are hard pressed in this and a weight of Soviet forces bears on them.

Definite déjà vu for Korsun Pocket II by Jack Radey.

One of the first games to start changing how supply works for Arty and SP as the almost boundless supply trains of the Russians come to play.

1st Ukraine army prep the battle space with DG’s!

Russian efforts to blow the line wide open, are thwarted by reserves of the 14th Panzer Division, who reinforce the line.

Turn 2

5th Mechanized and Tk elements press the flanks. While on the right Tk brigades force back the 14th pzr and other elements along the Cherkassy rail and Shopla road.

Germany arty DG’s back field units of the Soviets and then pull back to form a new line. 5th Pz SS steps into the line. On the left flanks 5th Gd Tk look for exploitable targets.

It’s a skinny break through but they take it anyway!

This will leave a mark, potential isolations.

3rd Pzr & 1tth Pzr attempts to come to the rescue to fight their way out.

Turn 3

A small disaster averted but there is no holding back the tide.

16th lop of the head of 5G Tk’s push.

Gniloy Tikich is the last line of defense.

Turn 4

Fresh meat for the grinder arrives

Turn 7 15th of Feburary

Weather kills activity.

Final positions. A pretty tight little scenario. Very well done. Soviets should perhaps have been even more aggressive. Just not used to having so much fire power as the Soviet!!
