Table Top Simulator? YorN?

What are your thoughts on TableTop Simulator?

Savage comments

I’m curious who uses it, and what are you playing. It would appear that when modules work, they work well. Id love to know more from folks who are using it, and of course those designing modules for it?

Chime in!

  1. Despite playing a few Strategy and Wargames on PC (War in the East, Steel Division, EUIV) if I have a boardgame I would rather play it for real. Ive tried table top simulator but it just lacks any joy. I’d rather play solo than have a hollow experience over TTS or Vassal.
I don’t get why there is so much fuss over things like Twilight Struggle on PC either. I have it. Its soulless.

  2. Really like TTS for playing solo games since it is so close to playing a physical boardgame. The main downside is there are few wargames (and even fewer official ones). So you have to make the games yourself based on the Vassal mods.

I recently played OCS Smolensk solo and it worked well. In particular, I made the counters 1/4 size relative to the map so I could put 4 counters in each hex. This got rid of a lot of stacking, which I dislike. Again the downside was having to make my own version from the Vassal mod – and the Vassal mod turned out to have a LOT of excess counters presumably left over from playtesting.
