North Africa 1942 March

After Jan and Feb 1942’s disastrous supply issues for the Axis, with LRDG raids, Convoy losses and other issues the Germans have just 1 supply unit and cannot get their men and equipment out of the fire.

This provides the Commonwealth an opportunity to counter attack. They do so and put a licking on the 21st Panzer. Forcing a retreat and step losses.

They follow through also by isolating parts of the 15th against the escarpments. Returning the prior favour.

Caught on the run German elements are overrun.

It took an extra activation [Limited] to clean up the Pass but finally we do so.

By this time the Axis are using reaction activations and make a run for it, to consolidate lines and get closer to supply that will arrive next turn.

Had the Axis broken through to Mersa there were few areas to retreat to effectively. Thankfully the Axis error regarding supply, and consequently isolation surrender rolls has turn the tide for now. I had hoped to lure them towards Bir Talab, but assumed that they would consolidate and focus on the Northern side of the escarpments and break through there. Once they saw some success near Mingar Quinn, it seems the decided to go for the bold stroke, but their supply SNAFUs fouled their game plan. Each turn they had to burn 1 supply unit to keep units from surrender rolls, which then limited choices in the coming months until such time as they could not extricate themselves. Not my plan, but the random events and our mutual game play forced the situation to have an outsized effect.

I will note that it seems like the Germans receive a LOT of REPL points. On most turns more than the Allies do. Which really means that the Allies must be very careful about losses. I also had been brining back units at reduced side from replacements…doah. You don’t do that, its full strength!! My bad.

There are just 8 turns left. This might end up in a draw.

Update. In fact we call it here. Excellent game play and good fun.
