Turn 6

Yep…. Attacking into Arnhem is a fools errand. Even out of supply they are too tough. Time for Plan B. – stop the 30XXX forces reaching the Wasser and keep hold of the Nijmegen bridge.

Lets pick up action at End of Turn 7, start Turn 8:

We can see the Brits fanning and screening my forces from Area B & C on the left, and pressing very hard on the canals. The Germans have attacked several times near Best, attempting to slow the advance down. Right now, as we look at the game, the German side is in constant reaction mode. The Allies have got inside the decision loop of the Germans very effectively. I had not anticipated the push on Helmond and the Canal, I had not expected the 30XXX to move so far so fast and be so deadly. We are constantly trapping ourselves and throwing scarce units into death traps to avoid a runaway lunge to Nijmegen.

Well the good news is this feels just like It Never Snows the SCS title. In that it is a total beat down in the South for the Germans. There is no respite. We HAVE to slow down, and await reinforcement and prepare for that to happen versus, attempt to slow the C’wealth down. I’m going to drop everything into Nijmegen and stuff the ‘Island’ with units. If I can get them there.

Start of Turn 9

In turn 9 [AM Sept 20th ] we manage a small counter attack on the US 82nd Airborne. That felt good… It didn’t do much, but it felt good. Taking a step or two forces the units off the line as each full 3 step unit costs the Allies a VP.

Again we do the same here.

This is a farce. I guess my bad for letting so many in. I don’t see how I could have prevented it tho.
