Vive l’Empereur – Hanau snippet 1

Note made a few errors here. 1. we only count INTERVENING hexes for range. Neither the firing hex nor target hex count. 2. That austrian arty must be in General order in the town. [not sure I agree with that rule but I guess it is what it is.

  1. What do you think of that “-1SP for each hex of range” for the artillery?? Doesn’t quite pass my smell test. I think it degrades the “realism”. Now, I’m feeling like there’s no middle ground between the ultra-detail and fiddliness of La Batt… and this “quasi-tactical” level between tactical and operational.

Might have to see how the “On Battles” system evolves before seeing if I can get my kicks in the Napoleonic era. This system looks pretty, but seems lacking in detail and accuracy…

    1. There is a near enough is good enough approach I think. It does detract. Le Batt offers some fine detail and for instance, their different unit/nationalities firepower is more explicit. Whereas here FP is just a number based on gun, training etc.
Note re arty -that each battery had a different FP rating and range, so it “manages” the weapon platform capability that way.
