Stalingrad ’42: Turn 5-6

Turn 5 in the North once again the Axis have too little in the wrong location!

The Soviets solidify a good line and hunker down. At least they are not counter attacking….

South of Voronezh we cross the Don. in the south by end of turn 5 we are stymied but now pressing from two angles. Lotsa white space, but few VPs to be had. Voloshilovgrad refuses to fall.

If we can press the Axis up north now and stop the reinforcement of Voronezh that would be great OR go deep behind it.  Sadly the rate of reinforcement ticks upward….and we struggle to kill enough to keep the Russkies on the ropes.

We capture a VP location and finally clear the rear of the Axis line south of the Dnper river.

The axis sits at 8 vp with the run rate required being 4. If we could bag Voronezh or had bagged it earlier we would be in a great position for an auto victory.

This city battle was bloody, and the Soviet counter attack was nearly successful.
