NORDKAPP Turns 2 and 3

Avionics 2, Weather clear.

Interdiction results in no air losses for either side. Success here means that we take the Ground Strike value and X3 to remove that many combat factors from being supplied.

NATO & US forces go all in on the Interdiction effort and this results in 7 Battalions being placed in OOS.

The Soviets attack bring helo forces in and race mech up the road to clear the way. They attack the lone Norwegian Bn.

The NATO air support helps but the die rolls don’t. The Norwegians die to a man and force no losses BUT Soviets cannot advance after combat [it’s a rule thing]

This allows UK, CAN and IT forces to land at the airfield in the NATO turn.

I imagine landing as the Soviets wipe out or overrun the Norwegian defenders.

The use of stacks is key but limited. It also provides opportunities to be ‘surrounded’ easily. So I’m very wary about attacks and about supply situations. Bringing these units in here may have been a mistake. While it possibly thwarts a few VPs we may have placed ourselves at risk and out of position to take advantage of other better opportunities.

Turn 3

Soviets execute reinforcing moves in the south. Primarily to blocks the Finns. So that they can carry on in the North un impeded to the heartland of Norway’s North and VP rich locations.

Soviet Attacks:

They stack up a great attack but due to inclement weather have no air support. The mountain pass defended at 6:1 holds off and kills 3 Bns or Soviets. LAWs, and I guess Carl Gustavs do their work. Or was it MILANs at this time?

Either way 3 bns for 1 Bn is a fair trade.

The Finnish attack aggressively. Looking to knock back the Soviets. Who decline retreats in a 1:2 result. The Finns want their 3 VP locations back and or supply cut off of this division.

Across the 5 turns the Soviets lose 6 Bns and 1 air unit the NATO side no air losses and 3 Bns.

We are ready for turn 4!
