Lets look back over the past two days 9 & 10
With the advantage and cover of night TF1 splits into two groups. With the Amphib units safely out of the way and no risk for Commonwealth naval forces they head shoreward to support the ground effort.
Heading into the littoral coastal waters.
3 sets of airstrikes are planned. The air missions for Force 3 3Ko and 12th Se fail to break the Infantry, but fortunately suffer no flak damage.
Air Group 14 does its thing, see below. While Air Group 4 fails to break the defenders in the jungle.
The airstrikes devastate the seaward guns!
But its is not over. Now the naval gunnery action takes place.
The defense system has the chance to fire back. But misses. The Singapore defences are silenced.
Not only do they survive air assault but Naval Bombard which score 3 hits, and all 3 are SAVED!
22nd Indian was slaughtered to a man. They managed to inflict just one loss. The base falls into Japanese control.
I had a SNAFU back in the prior cycle where we wrongly ascertained that Bases could be fronted as the TQ provider. That assertion was incorrect. Despite how the rules read. My bad. Negative impact was nominal. Above the 28th Indian put up a valiant but ultimately futile resistance. They managed to inflict 3 losses in the jungles of Malaya. But were eliminated in the process. [14 column 7 vs 3 TQ. Drops 2 columns for jungle. But -2 on the DRM for odds [4:1]. A roll of 9 yields a net 7 3/3 in the white result. ]
The period closes out with successful but costly actions by the Japanese armed forces as they progress up the Malaya coastlines.
