DAK2 Scenario: 7.5 The Race to the Wire—German Intervention Campaign Start, 29 March 41

Quite some time ago Tony and I started a campaign of DAK2. We are still playing.
In fact I’ve shared several posts about it. You can search the site for DAK2 and find the majority of them.
As I go thru 50+ draft articles I found this puppy. Its seems I never post our first turn! – Go Figure.
So here it is.

Campaign Victory Conditions

The game opens with clear weather on all 5 maps.

The Random event is a less common! – (Hist) Rommel Goes Off Half- Cocked.

The Malta roll forces the Germans to lose 1SP.

The 5th LE moves to overrun! They will need to flip their 5-5-3 unit over and fuel him, which will drop the attack odds to 1:2. Which means the Germans have a 93% chance of a step loss, with just a meagre 4% of inflicting a loss on the Commonwealth. But with a 6 shift from the surprise roll, it ends up on the 8:1 column!!!

So they catch the 1st Kings Dragoon Guard armoured car recon unit unawares as they failed to identify the line of attack. However, with accurate fire from the Support Brigade, Second Armoured maintained its position in the Salt Marshes. The end result was indeed the same regardless of the odds calculated – Ao1: DL1o1.

The Germans elect to lose a step and are forced to take an additional one if they wish to stay in the hex which they do, the Commonwealth take a step and one more for holding onto the hex. and prepare to hold the line.

They prepare to be barraged and attacked again!

They also prepared to blow supply dumps and radio’d nearby forces at Bir Biki for reinforcement. None could be spared! 3rd Hussars and 5th Royal Tank were preparing to retire towards the Agedabia cross roads, or perhaps even further north back towards the Pimple near Beda Fomm.

During the combat phase the Germans realize that their plan is somewhat foiled by the Rommel goes of ½ cocked random event and elects not to follow on attack.

Over to the Allies for their turn.
