Coming soon to a fund raise platform- Swords Around the Throne

His recent Facebook post announces a new version!
Vive l’Empereur! Two years ago on the 250th anniversary of Napoleon’s birth, Phalanx had announced that they’d publish my redesigned Age of Napoleon. In the end, it was not to be, but today I created a BGG page for the entirely new design that came out of this process. More details will be added over the following weeks. The plan is to release the game in the fall with a retail price of $49.95 (plus taxes and shipping), but the crowd sale platform I intend to use will allow the price to drop $2.50 for every 25 buyers (instead of stretch goals) until it becomes $39.95 (plus taxes and shipping) for those initial backers. The game is for 2 players, but I’m working on a solo system (not my forte), which will be offered via download.

Summary:

Swords around the Throne allows two players to reenact the Napoleonic Wars (1805-15) at the grand-strategic level, with France, her dominions and allies pitted in a titanic struggle for Europe against Great Britain and assorted Coalition members.

The players operate as heads of state and commanders-in-chief, not generals or even marshals. Their tools are diplomacy, politics and war. They direct military campaigns, not battlefield tactics.

Setup instructions are provided for games to start in 1805, 1806, 1809, 1812, 1813, or 1814. Flexible victory conditions make it possible to agree to finish in any year thereafter, but no later than 1815. The longer the time frame chosen, the fuller the experience. Scenario-specific additional and/or victory conditions are offered for “mini” games covering only 1805, 1806, 1809, 1812, 1813-14, 1814 or 1815.

Complexity is medium, and play time ranges from 30 minutes to a few hours, depending on the type of game chosen.
