J.D Webster has a love for aircraft and military aircraft games. While I am yet to play this little puppy, I wanted to share some of the art, the map and an example of play.
This ATO #29 is chock full of great articles about the Buffalo that may have you scratching your heading saying “what the..?”
After purchasing Fokker D.XXI’s from the Dutch, the Winter War broke out, and the Finns, planned to harrass and survive, all the while honing their skills. In 1940:
The Finns entered WWII,and took the Brewster to war. While the ground war was stagnant the air war raged on. The Soviets sent recruits the be blooded then ship them South, but they faced off against superior aircraft, and pilots with 200’s of hours more stick time and combat hours. The VVS had the worst of it through 1942. But by mid 1942, the FAF had to look for better aircraft as the VVS brought their Migs, La-5, and Yak fighters started to wear down the Finnish forces.
This game brings a swag of scenarios to allow us to explore the Finnish & Soviet experience over a artfully done map:
One of the joys of the hobby is finding nuggets like this that we can explore some little corner of history with.
Below is an example of play just a few turns long that I thought you might like to peruse.
