Board Game Geek is this EXCESSIVE?

In this excessive moderation?

EDIT – it appears the quote here is not the issue, but rather some other comment I made. Which must of been when I asked why there were so many moderated comments….doah. LOL. ]

We are.. or were discussing BGG’s rapidly declining supporter pledges. A chap had done some analysis. Correct or not it was an interesting chat. Very polite. Though I noted a lot of ‘moderated’ posts.

Someone mentioned paywalls and I wrote the comment below.

THREAD HERE

Now I guess the question is. Disruptive to whom?

BGG, the readers? Aldies feelings? Fuck me. What a bunch of babies.

I merely meant that my interest is in the BGG community of players, and THEIR comments and THEIR game play. I’m not interested in BGG employees, who are paid to write, who take on any project allocated as a paid reviewer. BGG’s strength is the gamers talking about games. I pinged Aldie about it. Its their site for sure I get it, I can see them moderating all the other woke bullshit that hurts ‘feelings’ and mean stuff or nasty grams etc. But this is a civil conversation of views expressed about their business and what might be going on, how they could improve things, communicate more clearly. Not allowed. I’m sorely tempted to delete my account and content.

  1. I saw the same thread and noticed all of the moderation. The heavy-handed moderation is laughable in a thread about opinions on why people are decreasing their support for BGG. Seeing the thread just confirms why I do not support their site. The one-sided censorship only serves to uphold their echo chamber of wokeness and protect the feelings of the weak-minded. I am planning to nuke my account and never look back.

  2. I may be getting it wrong… but it doesn’t seem as if your post has been deleted. Maybe they’re referring to a different one?

  3. BGG is going the way of GENCON. Overly cautious, pandering, spineless jellyfish controlling content that “they” feel is uncomfortable. I am right there with you on the use of BGG. BGG has its uses, but it has been overreaching in its censorship for quite a while. And DO NOT question them. Pathetic and sad.

  4. I was kicked off the BGG forum because of one post in a thread regarding some crying liberals whining about “how dare GMT use the Nazi flag on a game box!!! (Atlantic Chase). I guess telling people to grow up and don’t buy the game was considered excessive truth telling….
