Continuing with the BCS [ Battalion Combat Series] game play of Brazen Chariots we start the November 20th Turn 2 this is the third post and part 1 of however many it takes to get thru turn 2.
In the reinforcement phase 1st South African Inf Division arrives on the “left”, and The Kiwis make a showing! Naval gun support is lost for the Allies.
Both sides take modest replacement steps.
4th Indian begins the proceedings. Their 11th Brigade attempts to storm the Halfaya pass. Their first attack is rebuffed with heavy losses. But in the second attempt,
the attack is successful. Accurate barrages eliminate the enemy defender and the Indians move in.
Similarly along the primary road the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders make attacks but are rebuffed losing 1/3 of their effective fighting force.
We took a look at the options here. Barraging or attacks by fire then attacking or going straight in. While the barrages were effective the Combats were not due to some low rolls.’
While the attacks are proceeding along the coast, Ariete attempt to withdraw quickly to get out of harms way with 22nd Armoured. The get off slope and behind some escarpment terrain, leaving Pavia to be the sole defenders. They are currently locked, so if the Allies attack here it will release them. I’m assuming at some point 7th armoured will join up with 22nd and press home the attack with the goal being to clear a road to Tobruk.
I suspect that we have engaged with the 21st Panzer a tad early. But 4th Armoured and SPT force are both threatening the rear of the fortifications AND somewhat isolated from each other and from other forces. Their efforts are well rewarded with a lot of guidance from my opponent! . their opening move is just a partial , bu they eliminate the 2nd Rifle column. Their next activation they attack and surround Kings Royal Rifle Regiment and in their 2nd activation 21st Panzer hand out a whipping. Despite terrible arty fire accuracy the SPT formation is entirely isolated.
Will 4th Arm. Come to the rescue?
Closing the loop!: c
4th Indian plan their advance to the fortification line and look to be using Sidi Omar as their jump off point!
How long will the heavily dug in Savona Division last? They receive different treatment for isolation, which will help but their Ars suck!
Later on in the game, I shall have some tactics and strategy observations related to the Victory Conditions for both sides.
More of the 20th turn come soon!
