Deploying the 2 battalions gives you more flexibility.
In ML, it also allows you to spread them out in line and get more firepower. And thus make the hex a less dense defensive target.
The single regiment deployment gives you better morale since the regiment is operating as a single integrated unit. The two battalions deployed in the same hex will give you a morale check penalty without a leader present.
good news is the biggest frustration so far is setting up due to the revisions from one edition to next. Should be ok once I get thru it.
