Stalingrad ’42. The game is amazingly fast to play given its scope. Aboce is Turn 4. Even with novice play and lots of rule ‘verification’ we are cranking along at a prodigious and jolly clip! Will I make it to turn 30+… lets see.
Of course it does what any good #Simonitch #ZOCbond game should do and relies on the system to drive a high level of narrative with enough choice and just enough granularity [Its Divisional people…] to give you a feel for the ‘real action.
That said I still get this thing stuck in my craw with the 1d6 result set. Could we get just a little bit more granular? Meh, ok I’ll stop whining. The good news is I have made peace with Advance IN any DIRECTION!!!
It really does help once you understand that if you ‘trust your attack’ that you can still cover your flanks to a certain degree with ‘advancing units’ At least that is my way of using it!
Naturally I’ll want the full comparison to Fall Blau that we played so long ago.
Yeah..yeah. broader front. Less fiddling with rules. Legible counters and snappy play. Oh..and no hokey scenario rules to be “gamed”….different and likely better.
