Ukraine ’43 Turn 2

Soviets attack Sumy again : 26v7 with a -1L + and air and he applies Zhukov. For a net 4:1 , this causes a d1* the Germans retreat into Sumy. Zhukov causes a loss hover.

In the North we manage to hold for now. But for how long?

Compared to our last play Steve is way ahead of the curve. It took me a LONG time to get even close to Kharkov. Here turn 2 he is on the offense for sure,

We bounce out here.

Multiple rolls on the desperate defence table leave us with q Support uit.

This attack yields a VP! Not a lot of good options for retreating here.

This attack came as a surprise. I did not forsee it. The result is great for the Soviets and it starts to crack the wall.

In the German turn they manage to counter attack effectively:

Near Kharkov, Wiking, attacks, then mobile assaults and force a full retreat. Other units use the respite to retreat to support positions around Kharkov.

End of action Turn 2.

Note that the Russians have a nice break thru Sth mid map. The Germans are a bit off in their ability to respond. Plus they have not been able to inflict many casualties at all.
