UK’43 Sept 11-15 Turn 9-10

The Ukraine ’43 game play continues

Continuing from HERE

The primary action for Turn 9 centered around a solid attack North of Poltava and some rapid advances in the South. Losses were light on both sides but it is interesting to note that by pushing the Soviet forces forward, we are reducing the number of Arty re supplies we canmake per turn, often by 2.

This is meaning that the offense typically is scrounging for un reduced units to push into the line and making do with 3:1 attacks versus the better 4 & 5 to 1 ratios of the early game.

As we can see it might soon be time to use those puny Airborne units.

Turn 10 action sees the Russians press on the Germans West of Poltave to enable an encirclement. Soviets puncture the line .

Despite being aout of Supply we are well positioned to isolate the Poltava force who have just finished their ofrtification build.

In the South we have put as many units adjacent to the enemy as possible to slow down their retreat and allow us a chance at a crossing and assault on the city of Zaporozh’ye. Which is under manned. The dual threat at Dnepropetrvosk means either it OR Zaporozh’ye can be reinforced but not likely both. I think the Germans have kept too much in the North at this point, and were relying upon my units being out of supply to slow them down more than they expected. But we have managed so far to re supply as needed at the expense of the arty re supply as previously stated.
