The opening for the Axis was very aggressive and very successful. That theme continues in turn three.
The only bright spot was holding the fortified line south in the Rostov area. I’ve not played smart enough building secondary lines or fortifying. I need to get on that!
The one saving grace is the Axis are attempting to kill it all, versus driving deep. I leave remnants and low value units adjacent where I can to bog up his movement and suck him into combat.
During turn four we lose the southern most portion of the Rostov line but still hold further North. Whereas in the center the Axis are attempting to pocket large set of units and are not in a rush to get the river line! Perhaps he realizes its just not possible?
I fortify in advance of Voronezh to force the attacks there and slow him down and continue to maintain contact across the line.
The North holds.
The center is mighty thin. I’m ok with a lunge that way. His aggression there will be eaten by the miles as long as I cover river crossings and secure VP locations.
Rostov stiffens. I think my germ of an idea to fortify West and North of Rostov has stymied the Axis. They are being tentative and pivoting to Vroshilograd. GOOD!
Interesting approach for the Axis! Voronezh is such a death trap for them, better to bypass it and try and isolate it eventually. Although, Rostov is going to be a grind too. Great post!
