Movement and action by the end of Turn 2 was starkly different looking at the North and South. In the North the Soviets held ground and slowed progress towards Voronezh. Whereas in the South we caught a break and created a gap which forced the Soviets back ahistorically early I think. The Axis are at the gates of Rostov.
During turn four the Axis press ahead and leave OOS units to be isolated by rear guard follow on forces. Because of poor planning and movement, the approach to Voronezh lacks punch. The Axis slide south a little to try and breach the river and hit deeper. this was in hindsight an error. Voronezh was at this time still lightly defended and a hard punch there might have made the difference.
In the South above we can see that after a pitched battle Rostov fell. and we went to clear north of their and the Soviets just refused to collapse along the river line. With Rostov in hand, armour will now pivot East. We decide to not pursue a caucaus strategy [this may prove to be a mistake]. My goal is to run towards white space still, and grab as many VPs for an early auto win. Losses be damned.
Good stuff, Thanx!
