Salerno ’43 -5

There are mechanical and rules limitations to how much force can be brought to bear. So at some point it all comes down to column shifts. Thank goodness for air support!

The Germans hunt and peck for cheap kills, trying to keep Allied attrition higher than the replacement rate.

It’s around this time that the US now has enough boots on the ground and treads on road to allow the British to consolidate their two divisions and focus on the North.

Below we see them pivot hard to the North and begin to peel away.

This makes room for the 82nd airborne and the men of the 36th to engage. But more importantly the British need to secure VP locations that are still well defended and their forces are needing reinforcement and more punch.

German continue to make selective counter attacks.

46th, and supporting forces including the 41st Commando chip into attempt to dislodge 15th Panzer Grenadier elements.

They clear the hex.

With the Canadians due to arrive at anytime the US abandons pressing south and continues its valley push.

7th Armoured has initial success forcing a full retreat of HG div elements and then presses forward.

Arty, tanks and troops enter into a dirty City fight with neither side giving ground.

The Canadian arrive from the Boot of Italy!

Allies are 2 off the pace for VPs stuck at 7.
