MBT, Turn 2 update and some critical observations? Or am I doing it wrong?

Kev, I actually had pretty much this scenario happen to us in training at Hohenfels, Germany, in ’88. Our tank heavy team (two tank platoons, and one mech (M113) platoon were set up in a defense, and a Soviet regiment rolled over us.
Bottom line was they ended up just driving past us. My tank killed more than a tank company of tanks (~12?) and we never did get whacked , but it was moot, as most of the regiment just breached the obstacle we had emplaced at the one choke point, then drove past us.
It was weird because there wasn’t really any doctrinal recon, or maybe my memory is fuzzy. You’d expect a Combat Recon Patrol (platoon plus), then a Forward Security Element (company-sized), out in front of a tank regiment. Here’s the doctrinal pub from the time: https://irp.fas.org/doddir/army/fm100-2-1.pdf
We ended up getting our asses chewed by the deputy commanding general, a brigadier, but I’m not sure what we could have done differently absent a ton of engineers to put in AT ditches and mines.
Interesting. With the absence of smoke and arty the Russians here had no option but to absorb losses. Your commander was a bit of a dork. a regiment sized force is HUGE vs 2 platoons.
So for you also without as you say engineering or air support or arty etc. What can you do!?
Also I posted earlier… I think, if not I will some doctrine charts. I suspect, I should have attempted teh drive by faster, and could have used tank based smoke too. So some poor tactical use of the tanks on my part.
