Nice job, as always, when you’re taking an initial deep dive into an exciting new game. This certainly looks like an interesting title.
One thing that confuses me about this, though, is how it’s so similar in theme to Under An Iron Sky, yet apparently has enough differences to warrant a different series name. I’ll be interested to hear more about this, perhaps in your first AAR vid.
Hi Stiglr,
the theme and the background story is similar (well, almost identical) to 1985: Under an Iron Sky, but the similarities end there.
LT60M is battalion / 5km per hex / 3 hours per turn scale, and is focused on Command, Control and COmmunication.
1985: UAIS is regiment or division / 14 km per hex / 2 days per turn scale, and is focused on strategic / operational choices.
Looking forward to our game next week, Kev! Read about 25% of the rules and they seem clear / clean. Just wondering how it all translates to the table in terms of : does the posture slow the flow of the action on the map or does it become a quick reference / second nature once we played a few cycles.
The small footprint is appealing as well.
Pete, in my experience after a few cycles players are able to quickly remember the total hex cost for a unit moving in Tactical mode. Hill 1 + Forest = 4MP, Hill 2 + Forest = 5MP, Hill 3 + Forest = 6MP, and so on.
I figured as much. It really seems like once you are familiar with it, you’ll glance at the charts and move along quickly (and I like how your charts are well spaced / laid out and seem to lend themselves to easy reference).
