Always a fan of your SPQR / GBOH posts – speaking of Ancients have you tried Field of Glory II (slitherine) yet? would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the game. I’ve been playing both SPQR and FOG2 recently and am surprised at how different they both feel (whilst trying to capture the same thing)
Hi JJ! NO! I need to . I quiet enjoyed the old FOG. I even played the GBoH PC game. But sometimes chits and bits are better than 1’s & 0’s!
Ha! I too have played the old GBoH PC game – was very impressed given the program is 20+ yrs old. Still a lot of fun, and a nice changeup when you don’t have time to clear a table and roll 100’s of d10’s But I agree overall, the actual ‘chits/bits’ version wins out..There’s just something about pushing the cardboard around.
If you ever manage to fit FOG2 into your busy gaming schedule, consider this an open invitation to an online PBEM battle… I’d challenge you to some Vassal GBoH but w/ a little 18month-old running around…3hrs of quiet are hard to come by
