The Brits drove very quickly into the Caen area, and I think we were too slow getting Lehr into position. I kept wanting to use them as a counter attack force.
We neglected to bring some reinforcements on so I allowed a double move.
Mulberries will take for ever at this pace.
I found it very difficult to get decent odds as the Germans defending on the counter attack. The Allies can of course afford higher losses. I think the best idea given Caen is falling so quickly is to build IP’s in the hills east of Caen and form a line there.
Similarly the Paras are just not able to match the power of the Germans at this location above. So they hold…and hold. While the rest of the armour and arty head for Cherbourg.
Attacked on two flanks this will clear the area!
While Ie did not finish the campaign. What I experienced was very good. Its a true playable monster. Good attention to where reinforcement and when they arrive make s a huge difference for the Germans. The Southern Cherbourg scenario is the next one I would like to tackle If I play again. There is a new V2 coming. I wonder what will change. I dont know that significant tweaking is wanted. I avoided many of the ‘chrome’ rules, and break down units ‘by type’ . Most of it felt like extra overhead for nominal added narrative or play value.
