As a side note on this AAR in order to shorten the repetitiveness of stats of the game, most of the time I shall write up acronyms in full the first time, all stats or rules specifics will be explained briefly one time, and where possible going forward short hand will be used. So Supply Points becomes SP, t is for supply token etc. You can also follow along on Youtube where 5 or 6 videos are up covering setup, potential strategy and some live play, replete with errors and omissions
Campaign:
September 5th
A quick recap from the prior post:
Dry & Limited Air [ suspended Interdiction and No Hipshoots.]
Event: = Ignore -> Operation Annie. Unit west of Rhine 1-3 DG 4-6 retreat l hex.
Sept – No Rail cap.
Allied 5 +1 = supply 5 SP Shipping = I Commonwealth 6+1 = 4 SP, No Replacements
SP arrive at each zone as ridiculous as it may seem, and are dropped on the edge of the map unless Rail is available. OR they may be placed in certain cities.
Broad Front strategy has three locations. SP must be allocated evenly across all Zones of the ‘broadfront’
Several attacks go awry,.see here.
September 8th
Germans win initiative, and take it. Weather is dry but air is limited. The Germans roll another 11 for replacements, and also pick up 8 SP in supply. More air is repaired, more units upgraded and brought to the table. The line along the Albert gets tough. Positioning of units in the South is generating wariness by Patton’s more astute generals. Tho they cant do shit as they have no SUPPLY.
Allied turn.
They grab 8 SP UK only get 2!! The Pluto pipeline means that ALL units pay 1t to mech move, This will cripple activity for the brits this turn!
The Allies move tgeh Polish and Canadians up to celar the way towards Breskins ferry and the Schedlt. This secures the Brugge Gent Canal. Heavy air strikes DG the defenders of Antwerp.
The US push more units across near Dinant and reinforces 1st Division. The Allies feel very stymied and bereft of a real plan at the moment.
To make matters worse this happens:
September 12th the weather is clear and the Germans take initiative again, allowing the defences to be built up stronger yet again.
UGH…..here call a pause as several errors were made with reinforcement placement by the Germans and mis use of the Broad front rule.
Over to VASSAL to fix. Please stay tuned until we find a good spot to swap back to the physical board.
