DDAY & Beyond is a relatively straight forward game capturing the events around June 6th 1944. The game runs weekly turns and provides a short and long campaign giving you the opportunity to run all the way to the fall of the Axis forces.
Here on this day 76 years ago is turn 1, week one the landings.
Note I did not use the historical units in the main as all the units values are identical for Armour & Infantry.
Above you can see my selection of landing sites. Based on how combat and all that goodness works These seemed like optimal locations. This allows Naval Supported and air supported attacks to go in and secures a two prong approach to the port.
The Static division holding Caen goes down hard. 10 factors vs 2 Less Columns shifts for the landing and town. Interestingly CAS works only if you roll a 7 or better other wise it has no effect!
The Germans are thrust out of Caen.
The US forces land unopposed. and assault in land when joined by the 3 parachute divisions from the US army.
Situation at the end of combat at the end of the first turn.
3 Beachheads are formed and we have isolated three enemy divisions. Losses have been very light, with just one step from the tank division lost capturing Calais.
On to the German turn.
