With McPherson’s forces pressing toward the supply lines of Dalton, Hood elects to advance to close the gap and delay the Union, so that the bulk of the Confederate forces can reach the Oostanaula river.

McPherson decided to order Sweeny  [12 man power points ] to advance around his right, south of Caldwell and press across the creek that bounded the township of Sweet Valley; in an effort to cut even Hood off from Resaca!

Cleburnes division [6 man power ] was guarding the approach to Resaca,. and Hood’s left flank, as they had press up to guard the rail line to Resaca.

Combat:

Sweeny receives +1 for odds of 2:1, +1 for a Prepared Attack off the march and Minus one because Cleburnes leadership is better [3vs2]. Both sides look at the net die roll on their respective CRT’s.

Sweeney losses a step , his force is disorganized , but they will be allowed to advance. While Cleburne is also Disorganized and must retreat between 2 and 4 hexes. Cleburne elects to rest up at the Distillery on the banks of the river… probably a good spot to get some liquid fortification for his men!
