222 BC Sellasia /2

Turn 1 opening positions:

Illyrians Medium Infantry attempt to force passage across the rough ground at the river.

This effort has mized results in heavy fighting across rough ground and formations break down into loose clumps of men fighting.

Antigonus sends his light force to pick away at the enemy onhis left.

Results are mixed.

Fighting in the rough gets the better of Antigonus’s right flank and most rout back across the river.

Assaulting the defensive line was impetuous and it appears fool hardy!

As is leaving those defenses and advancing!

Below we see Antigonus holding the line and awaiting the oncoming Phalanxes. While on his right his men crater but give almost as good as they got.

Close up

A tipping point, Spartan Phalanxes collapse!

Cleomenes is in dire straits.

With room to breath Antigonus pivots left and right and wipes out the rest of Cloemenes Phalanxes. His right holds and after some recovery press home the advantage. At this point Rout Point accumulation from the Phalanxes is enough to give Antigonus the win.
