Warfare in November

Abu Ageila  1956 Arab-Israeli Sinai War.

The Negev Brigade

At the start of Israel’s pre-emptive war against Egypt in Sinai, Colonel Yehuda Wallach attacked the strong HQ fortress in the north at Abu Ageila under Brigadier Gaafer el Abd. After heavy fighting for outlying positions, Abu Ageila fell by storm and the Egyptians were forced to withdraw, opening Israel’s route south towards the Straits of Tiran (29 October–1 November
1956).
