Agagia 1916 World War I (Middle East) While facing the Turks east of Suez, British forces had to turn west against the pro-Turkish Senussi. After several indecisive actions in late 1915, commander William Peyton sent General Henry Lukin against the rebels at Agagia, on the coast near Barrani. The Senussi were routed, with their leader Jafaar Pasha captured. Other Senussi forces were later defeated at Siwa
